Veneers and crowns are usually one trip of 4–6 days. Implants are normally two trips a few months apart. Here is what each treatment actually requires.
Why this is the first question to answer
Before flights, before cost, before anything else — you need to know how much time to take off work. Get this wrong and the whole trip becomes stressful.
Here is what each treatment realistically requires. These are typical ranges, not promises; your own plan depends on your mouth.
Veneers or crowns: one trip, 4–6 days
A front-teeth veneer or crown case is usually completed in a single visit to Tirana.
- Day 1 — examination, X-rays, digital scans, shade selection, agreeing the final plan
- Day 2 — tooth preparation and temporaries fitted
- Days 3–4 — the laboratory makes your final restorations
- Day 5 — try-in, adjustments, final fitting and polish
Some cases finish in four days, some need six if a lot of units are involved or you want a try-in stage before the final cementation. Build in a buffer day rather than booking a flight for the evening of your last appointment.
Dental implants: usually two trips
This is where expectations most often go wrong, so it is worth being precise.
Implants need to osseointegrate — the bone grows onto the implant surface and locks it in place. That is biology, and it takes roughly three to six months. Nobody can speed it up, and any clinic suggesting otherwise is either misunderstanding you or misleading you.
Trip one — around 4–5 days. Consultation and 3D planning, any extractions, implant placement surgery, temporary teeth fitted, and a check before you fly home. You leave with teeth — you will not be toothless.
Healing at home — 3–6 months. No further appointments in Albania. Your local dentist can handle routine check-ups.
Trip two — around 4–7 days. Impressions and scans, the laboratory builds your final prosthesis, fitting, bite adjustment, final check.
Total time in Albania is typically 9 to 12 days across the two trips.
What about "teeth in a day"?
You will see this advertised, and it is a real technique, but the name is misleading.
With All-on-4 and All-on-6, implants are placed and a fixed temporary bridge is attached immediately — often the same day. So you genuinely do leave with fixed teeth. But those are temporaries. The permanent prosthesis still waits for osseointegration, which still takes months.
So "teeth in a day" is accurate about your appearance and completely inaccurate about your treatment being finished. Anyone who tells you the entire process is done in a day is not describing implant dentistry.
When a single trip is possible for implants
Occasionally a case can be completed in one longer stay — where the implants are exceptionally stable at placement and the patient can remain for an extended period. This is uncommon and is a clinical judgement, not something to plan around. Assume two trips.
Bone grafting adds time
If you need a sinus lift, bone graft or split crest to build up bone before implants can be placed securely, that changes the schedule.
Minor grafting is often done at the same appointment as implant placement, adding no extra trip. More substantial grafting may need its own healing period of several months before implants can go in — which can mean three trips rather than two.
This is only known after your X-rays and 3D scan are reviewed. It is worth asking about early, because it is the single biggest variable in the timeline.
Practical planning notes
Fly in the day before. Do not schedule your first appointment on your arrival day. A delayed flight should not derail the plan.
Leave a buffer at the end. Bite adjustments sometimes need a second look the following morning. A flight booked hours after your final fitting is a bad idea.
Expect some soreness after surgery. Implant placement is done under local anaesthetic and most people describe it as far less unpleasant than they feared. But you will want a quiet evening, not a hike.
Consider flexible flights. The small extra cost is worth it against the possibility of needing an extra day.
Tirana is easy. Flights from the UK are frequent and often inexpensive, the airport is about 30 minutes from the city, and English is widely spoken. The city itself is genuinely pleasant to spend a few days in between appointments.
Your four-night stay
Our All-on-4 and All-on-6 packages include a four-night stay, which covers the surgical trip for most patients. If your plan needs longer, we will tell you before you book rather than after you arrive.
The only reliable answer
Everything above is typical. The actual answer for you depends on your bone, how many teeth are involved, and whether grafting is needed.
Send us photos and any recent X-rays and we will give you a specific schedule — how many trips, how many days each, and how long between them — as part of your free written quote.
Request your treatment plan and you can book flights around real dates rather than guesses.
